PrintHouston is pleased to announce Press Forward, a contemporary student printmaking exhibition to be held at Box13 Art Space in Houston, TX.
Press Forward will showcase exceptional works from current student printmakers that explore the wide range of traditional and innovative printmaking processes. Original works in all printmaking including lithographs, screenprints, relief prints, intaglio, monoprints, and letterpress.
The Nancy Luton Printmaking Education Fund
In 2020 we established an education fund to support students who are interested in learning about and enhancing their skills in printmaking. Nancy Luton, a Houston artist who donated her time, energy, and money to printmaking efforts at PrintMatters, Burning Bones Press, and the University of Houston, was one of our original members and we are proud to name this fund in her honor.
Applications open May 15, 2024 & close on September 21, 2024.
A Statement from the President
The importance and beauty of original prints! We are here to communicate our love of prints and to educate about their value and the joy of collecting them. We do this by exposing the public to as many artists and printmaking techniques as we can through exhibitions, events, and technical demonstrations. The appreciation of original prints occurs on many levels, from responding to artistic expression to understanding the skill required to accomplish its many techniques and the knowledge of the inks and paper/ materials used to make them. Printmaking is quite an extraordinary process!
Heads UP! I want to inform everyone that we are transitioning from being called PrintMatters to PrintHouston. Most print lovers already refer to us as PrintHouston after our popular biennial event. In any case, we thought this change would be less confusing and that you would find it a positive move forward.
