Andis Applewhite

Born in Pampa, Texas, Andis Applewhite currently commutes between her home/studio in Houston to her farm north of Lubbock, Texas where she is learning how to grow wine grapes. She received her education in Graphic Arts at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas. Applewhite's work explores abstract symbolism and the dualities in life. Her interest in woodblock printing began in making furniture with her father using leftover scraps of mesquite, mahogany, and pecan wood from the woodshop. She is an elected Member of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society and California Society of Printmakers. Her screen prints and woodcuts are found in the collections of the Library of Congress, Capital One Financial Services, Texas Tech University, and St. John's College.
