Kelly Moran
Kelly Moran has a BFA in painting from Louisiana Tech University, she studied ceramics at University of Houston Graduate program, participated in the artist collective Little Egypt Enterprises and was associate director of Texas Collaborative, a place where National and international artist collaborated to produce their own prints. Moran presently runs her studio in Houston heights producing her own work and occasionally working on prints with other artist. Her past training in painting, ceramics and printmaking has contributed to her love of craftsmanship and process orientated work. She draws on contemporary events, personal life, and intuition to compose her well crafted, quirky universal images. Kelly is an avid collector of ephemera from 1800's on to the 70's. Her studio is filled with different sets of encyclopedias, how to books for the home, vintage cookbooks, vintage medical books just to name a few. These books are treasures found at estate sales and Ebay. They are mined by Kelly to find the treasured images from another time that speak volumes about our culture where we are now and then. Her images are layered with meanings some straightforward some not.
