Maryellen Quarles
I am a printmaker exploring the seasonal rhythms and restorative power of nature. My current body of work attempts to capture the ephemeral quality and visual layering of my local woodland, coastal prairie and savanna habitats through a variety of printmaking techniques. Sheer layers, line work and suggestions of things unseen invite the viewer to the in-between space that gardens and natural environments provide—a sanctuary where the inner world of our emotions, imaginations and memory co-exist with the outer world—away from the pressures of everyday life.
